Another interesting point which is quoted from our strategist said today, "is the China/Blackstone issue. China has agreed to invest US$3bn in non-voting share of Blackstone. But why Blackstone?? It is clearly better proposition for Blackstone, as such a high profile investment would help Blackstone image to establish in China. Furthermore, Blackstone did this without losing any voting right in the board. But what is there for China?? Although some people suggested this is for reserve diversification, however, it is not justified for China to buy a non-voting right share. You can argue the fact that by buying the non-voting right can simply the ownership process. However, why a private equity?? Why not a listed company?? I don’t have the answer for this question. However, I hope this is not an investment mistake by the Chinese government as they are receiving enormous pressure on the protectionism from US and trying to find ways to invest the US$1.2 trillion foreign reserves."
